He earned his dental degree from Semmelweis University in 1991 and became a specialist in orthodontics in 1999.

He developed a modified ALF technique for early orthodontic treatment and established the principles of Craniofacial Functional Medicine and Health-Focused Orthodontics.

In his digital laboratory, ALF devices, intraoral trainers, and 3D sleep dentistry appliances are produced. In Hungary, he collaborates in sleep teams with body therapists, speech therapists, sleep specialists, and ENT doctors.

  • He is an international speaker on topics including integrative oral health, sleep, posture, and teamwork.
  • He is the former president of IFUNA (www.ifuna.net) and has been a member of EA4SD and EADSM since 2023.

My Story

  • 1991

I earned my dental degree from Semmelweis University in 1991, followed by my orthodontic specialization in 1999. Early in my career, I focused on general and aesthetic dentistry — drawn by smiles, precision, and harmony.

  • 1995

In 1995, a gnathology course fundamentally challenged everything I had learned about bite in university, prompting a question: what is the true goal of treatment from a bite perspective?

  • 1996

In 1996, my brother’s serious illness redirected my thinking. I began studying Ayurveda, Silva Mind Control, homeopathy, and other alternative therapies. This transformed my worldview — I realized the human body functions as a whole, and healing is about restoring internal balance, not just eliminating symptoms.

  • 2000

Since 2000, I have practiced meditation — initially using Dr. Joe Dispenza’s methods, later completing the advanced CMBM (Mind–Body Medicine) program and Dispenza’s Mind–Body Medicine training. Dr. Gábor Maté’s trauma-based healing approach also had a significant impact on me.

  • 2002

In 2002, I permanently left general dentistry to focus on orthodontics. In 2003, David Sarver’s facial aesthetic approach guided my research into the causes and treatment of facial asymmetries, deepening my understanding of the relationship between function and form.

In the early 2000s, two new directions began to shape my work: digital treatment planning (Invisalign, later my own Smileazy aligner system) and the gentle, extraction-free Damon technique.

  • 2007

The major breakthrough came in 2007 when I met Dr. Darick Nordstrom, the creator of the ALF appliance. Through his work, I was introduced to the connection between cranial osteopathy and orthodontics — finally understanding the causes of facial asymmetries and how to treat them non-surgically.

  • 2013

In 2013, I joined IFUNA, followed by AAMS in 2014. These professional communities provided the foundation for giving lectures and developing the following concepts:

  • Health-Focused Functional Orthodontics

  • Craniofacial Functional Medicine

Since 2013, I have been running a digital laboratory, developing my own aligner system, producing ALF devices, and custom orthodontic appliances. My treatments incorporated Buteyko breathing exercises, sleep therapy, and an increasingly deep focus on autonomic nervous system regulation.

These approaches suggested new treatment categories and redefined the goal of orthodontics — integrating the body as a whole.

Through IFUNA, I met another influential mentor, Patricia Valerio, from whom I learned the Functional Jaw Orthopedics approach.

  • 2019

In 2019, I developed the SleepSol device concept, now produced as a 3D sleep dentistry appliance. IFUNA also introduced me to the posturology perspective, further deepening my understanding of the mouth–body connection and guiding me toward sports dentistry.

  • 2021

By 2021, my own practice had fully adopted a health-focused approach. My team expanded to include a physiotherapist and speech therapist, forming a truly interdisciplinary healing model.

These directions converged when, together with my friend and coach Zsuzsanna Fodor, we developed the Sleap program — a self-regulating sleep improvement system for individuals and groups.

In 2021, following Dr. Michael Gorbonos’ passing, I took over leadership of the IFUNA international professional organization, guiding it until 2025.

In recent years, my long-standing friendship and professional collaboration with Péter Lakatos inspired me to write books, resulting in my first publication in 2024 and a second in 2025.

Working with health-focused treatments and sleep-disordered patients gradually made me realize: we can do much more for patients — together with them.

During this journey, James Maskell’s community functional medicine concept profoundly influenced me, confirming what I had long felt: the future of health lies in education, community, and lifestyle, taking inspiration from the Blue Zones’ lifestyle communities. This led to the creation of the Smile & Health™ concept.

Today, I no longer see myself solely as a dentist or orthodontist, but as a functional physician of the masticatory system — an Oral Physician. A healer who sees connections, integrates systems, and helps patients understand the relationship between the mouth and the body.

My mission is to show that health is not about suppressing symptoms, but restoring balance to the body. This may require functional medical or dental interventions, but the emphasis is on restoring breathing, swallowing, and oral balance, as well as lifestyle changes that patients can make to aid their own recovery.

This is the essence of the Smile & Health™ concept – and this is the path I follow every day: as a teacher, healer, and integrator.
